In a collaboration between Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and QGP, an annual grant under the name Pathway Towards Personalised Medicine (PPM) was launched in 2015 to encourage local researchers working on genomics. The large number of high quality proposals submitted in this inaugural year was clear evidence of the success of this initiative. QGP continues to contribute to the PPM awards both administratively and financially.

This grant has supported experts and researchers in genomics and genetics working at research facilities inside Qatar, as well as integrated healthcare programmes, all of which represent fundamental components designed to pave the path toward personalised medicine.

There were 5 PPM award-winning proposals and 4 PPM award-winning proposals in the first and second cycles, respectively, from highly qualified research teams representing different local institutes. They worked on analysing the data coming out of the first 3,000 whole genomes and are expected to publish their work soon. Recently, the 3rd cycle of PPM was launched again targeting high impact, national research priority objectives, which are expected to draw in amazing quality and number of proposals.
